Mikael Kristersson made his first documentary for Swedish TV in 1972, and after studying film photography at the University Collage of Film, Radio, Television and Theatre 1973-1975 he has produced 35 films of varying lengths, format and content, primarily for Swedish TV.In 1987 his first feature length documentary Pica Pica, had its cinema premiere, and his second one, Kestrels Eye, followed some 10 years later. In 1987 his first feature length documentary Pica Pica, had its cinema premiere, and his second one, Kestrels Eye, followed some 10 years later. Both films were critically successful, and the box office returns and television audiences generated were larger than usual for a documentary film. They have also won numerous awards at film festivals around the world. Light Year is Kristersson’s third feature-length film.
